To get at connections to heating element, remove screw through the cap on back of heater's frame.

A portable electric heater is often used in a bathroom or bedroom. Because people are likely to brush against it with bare limbs, it should be checked carefully and frequently for a "hot" frame, a condition resulting from accidental contact between the metal body and any part of the power circuit. This can be very dangerous, as explained in the section entitled "Play It Safe!"
For picture purposes, I bought a brand new heater. When I set up the Handitester for a simulated grounding test, I was astonished to see and hear the meter needle bang over to low ohms, indicating an actual ground! When I took off the end cap and examined the wiring, I discovered that the single screw holding the resistance wire element was rubbing through the insulation of one wire of the flexible cord. I fixed that in a hurry with a bit of tape. ·

Check   connections   for   tightness,   insulation   for breaks.   Repair   wire  by   twisting   ends   together.

Don't be fooled . . . not all tubular lamps are fluorescents. Here are two of identical size and appearance, but only the top one is a fluorescent, the tip-off being the double pin connectors at each end. The lower lamp is an incandescent, and has only one metal connector at each end, as shown in picture above.
